From the reverence of the Requiem of Verdi, recorded with the London Symphony on the Chandos label, to the decidedly irreverent God Delusion by STYVYN, Markella's musical and spiritual journey has immersed her in the musics, cultures and religions of five continents, evolving into her emergence as a self-described 'freethinking humanist activist musician.'

Markella was born in Athens, Greece and began studies at the National Conservatory at the age of 13.
